October: Power from the Past Show

During this annual antique power show you'll see antique engines pump water, make ice cream, generate electricity, and more. There are also displays of antique tractors. Fresh ice cream and ice-cold beverages are available (while supplies last) with proceeds going to Power From the Past Antique Engine Club and the Friends of Tombstone Courthouse. This event is held in conjunction with Tombstone's Helldorado Days. Helldorado, since its inception in 1929, has focused on the guardianship of Tombstone's infamous past. This celebration is the city's oldest event. Watch the streets of Tombstone fill up for a grand parade on Sunday! There are bands, gunfighters, saloon girls, cowboys, mounted and marching units, horses, cars, tractors, royalty and floats that celebrate the past and present of Tombstone, Arizona.

Once a year the courthouse is illuminated by candlelight.

December 2013: Lighting of the Luminaries

6 - 8 pm. "Las Posadas," which means lodging or inn, uses luminarias or farolitos, depending on your tradition, as a way of symbolically lighting the path for Mary and Joseph on their procession to find shelter. The Mexican tradition evolved from 16th century Spanish missionaries. They lit bonfires along the roads and churchyards to guide people to Midnight Mass on the final night of the celebration of "Las Posadas." To honor this tradition, and ring in the festive holiday season, about 225 small brown paper sacks filled with sand and a candle are set out and lit on the portico, front and side walls, for this one-night event at Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park.
